I           Call to Order

·         The meeting was called to order by Greg Warner, President, at 7:00pm.

·         Meetings moving to Wednesday nights in 2011.

 

II         Secretary's Report: Jeremy Anderson

·         Minutes approved as written.

 

III        Treasurer's Report: Christine Miller

·         Current balance as of November 17th is $4,933.

·         Discussion regarding looking into transferring our account to Eastwood Bank.

·         Payment to FADS for Com Ed of $300 outstanding.

·         Income from Com Ed outstanding.

·         83 attendees at Friday Dance for an income of $679.

A.  Ballroom Committee: Carolyn Tommeraas

·         Discussion regarding cookies at December Dance.  So moved.

 

3. Music Committee: Brenda Sonnenburg - no report.

4. Dance Set-Up: via Terry Russell - no report

·         No business.

 

5. Public Relations Committee: Jill Smith - no report

·         No business.

 

6. Charity Fundraising Committee: Sally Arrindell - no report

·         No business.

 

7. Youth Outreach Committee: Jeremy Anderson

·        Encouraging UMR student attendance at December Dance.

11. Membership Meeting

·         Board Slate:  Sally Arrindell, Maggie Brimijoin, Karrie Geroux, Eliza Mitchell, Terry Russell, Rita Russell, Jill Smith, Carrie Tommeraas, Greg Warner.

·         2010 in Review:  Rent-a-Dancer, Fall Festival Workshops, Increase music library, Change for Music, Reduce Expenses, Increase admission, scholarships, donations, demos.

·         Survey (see attached).

·         Recognition of Board and Competitors.

 

12. December Meeting

·         December 30th is reserved.

·         Election of officers.

 

13. Valentine's Day Dance

·         DJ - Andy Trawick.

·         Scott Stearns will not be doing set up.

·         37th Street Gold will not be performing.

·         Budget:  $350.

·         Discussion regarding recognition for both Scott Stearns and 37th Street Gold.

·         Saturday, February 12th, 2010.

·         Carrie Tommeraas working with Senior Center regarding set up and tear down.

·         Chocolate theme?

·         Front table admission:  do we pay someone, if so, how much?  Offer $30 each to Danika Dahl and Rachael Geroux.

·         Door prizes.

·         Sue Franken to cater?  Carrie Tommeraas to call.

·         Karrie Geroux to make truffles.

 

14. BMI and ASCAP

·         Discussion regarding ASCAP license for next year.  Move to purchase ASCAP license for 2011 passed.

 

15. Music Equipment

·         Presentations welcome.

·         Set up task force.

 Dahl Dance Center is having their annual Holiday Potluck and Dance


Cover charge: Food

It was a very well attended dance. The dance floor was full - everyone was dancing.

Special thanks! to our DJ, Paula Boos, who spent so much time putting together the play list, incorporating many new songs - songs requested by you. Keep the suggestions coming.

Thanks, also, to Fred Astaire Dance Studio, who taught the lessons, featuring Salsa and Merngue.

 Board Elections
USA Dance Chapter 2017 is required to hold board elections for ALL board positions in December 2010.
If you are interested in serving the dance community in Southern Minnesota, please let us know.

We've been looking for suggestions for music to use at our dances. You can make a suggestion anytime, but if you send a song suggestion before our next dance, your name will be entered into a prize drawing.

Have you heard any music that makes you want to tango? Swing? Waltz? Send us the name of the song and artist and be entered into the drawing. You do not have to be present to win.
