Greetings,
I am the president of the Scott Hosier WWII Roundtable ( www.ww2roundtable-rochester.org ), held monthly in Rochester, Minnesota. Our next program on September 12 features two veterans of the battle for Okinawa. One of them has asked us to play '40's music before the program so that he and his wife (both in their '80's) can dance together. We suspect some other veterans will join in as well.
My question is, do you know of any people who would like to join in on the dance? It would only be 30 minutes, 6:30PM to 7:00PM on Monday, September 12. If would be fun to have some other people -- young and old --show up (perhaps even in period dress) and dance along with the veterans. The idea is to provide a bit of entertainment for the audience seated in the auditorium before the program. There is a stage and room in the aisles to dance. Dance moves from the '40's and before (e.g. swing and jitterbug) are preferred.
We are a non-profit organization, and normally ask for a $3 donation, but of course anyone coming to participate in the dancing would be allowed in for free and are welcome to stay for the program. If you'd like, you can staff a table to promote your USA Dance. We normally get 400+ attendees so this might be good exposure for you!
Please let me know what you think of this idea.
Thanks!
Dave
