Board Meeting
December 29, 2010
Present: Sally Arrindell, Heather Voight, Jill Smith, Greg Warner, Kerrie Geroux, Eliza Mitchell, David Arrinedell, Jim Geroux.
Minutes. The minutes of the November 17, 2010 meeting were approved with the modification that the Board approved purchase of an ASCAP license in 2011.
Election of Officers: The following officers were elected for 2011:
President – Greg Warner
Vice President – Carolyn Tommeraas
Secretary – Maggie Brimijoin
Treasurer – Terry Russell
At Large – Sally Arrindell
Kerrie Geroux
Rita Russell
Jill Smith
Admission Table Discussion and Decision:
The board discussed the difficulty of recruiting volunteers to assist with admissions. The board decided to pay an individual $30 for staffing the desk from 7-10. During the 7-8:30 time periods, one board member will assist. The schedule will be 3 - 30 minute shifts – 7-7:30, 7:30-8, and 8 – 8:30. We will then have 2 - 15 minute shifts from 8:30-8:45 and 8:45-9:00. It was suggested that male board members staff the later shifts so they can assist and participate in the lessons. Kerrie Geroux abstained from the voting since her daughter will participate in staffing the desk for pay.
Miscellaneous:
- Greg will send Eliza the survey results to place on web site
- It is suggested the mixer format be changed from time to time to include 3 fox trots, 2 waltzes and 2 single time swings. Greg will contact DJs to arrange play lists for the March-April dances.
- A suggestion to consider raffles as a fund raiser was noted to be included with other 2011 activities.
- Equipment set-up and take down – it was decided that others must be involved in this important activity. Terry Russell has primarily been responsible for both for about 7 years. The Board expressed sincere appreciation for Terry’s tireless efforts but recognizes this must be a shared responsibility. Others who will assist include Greg Warner, Richard , David Arrindell, Jim Geroux, and others who assist such as Joey. It was also noted a standard setup is desirable for consistency and volunteer understanding.
- Valentine Dance – the board reiterated the budget of $350 excluding rent and DJ. Al Trawick to DJ 8-12.
